History is mythology and in Texas mythology is liturgy. So it’s worth taking the time to get that liturgy right.

Nearly every podcast season I’ve produced was in response to discovering something that I got terribly wrong in a previous podcast: the location of the Battle of Medina, the route of and motivations of Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, the trajectory of the Rio Grande federalist movement, and the “extinction” of the Lipan Apaches, to list a few.

For this reason, I’ve hesitated for years to make the transcripts of those seasons public, at least with out some kind of explanatory - and extensive - errata for each one. But that fear is probably getting in the way of a more important purpose that those transcripts can serve.

And so, at long last, I am publishing here, on-line, in an easily searchable format the transcripts from seven podcast seasons, principally in order to make available my sources. I owe it to the larger community to share where my “facts” are coming from, and I’m proud of the diverse collection of sources that I’ve been pointed to over the years. A special thanks to Dr. Brian Stauffer and Dr. Ariel (Allie) Kelley for their help in formatting and, in many cases, correcting my sources.
